Captain Kirk Vs. Jesus And A Rose Blooms; 29 Days Left

The Celtics defeated the Bulls, 109-99, on Saturday night in the seventh game of one of the best series in NBA playoff history.

Boston stormed out to a 29-11 edge in the second quarter to seize control of the game and the momentum was with them the whole way.

Ray "Jesus" Allen led the Celtics with 23 points and 7 rebounds, Kendrick Perkins posted 13 points and 12 boards, Eddie House and Glen "Big Baby" Davis added 31 points combined off the bench (16 and 15 respectively). Paul Pierce had 20 points and 7 rebounds, and Rajon Rondo filled the stat sheet with 7 points, 11 assists, 5 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocks.

Chicago was led by Ben Gordon, who scored 33 points, while being hampered by a strained hamstring all series long. Kirk Hinrich had 16 points (14 in the 4th quarter) and 4 steals, Joakim Noah tallied 7 points and 15 rebounds, Brad Miller had 9 points and 7 boards, and rookie sensation Derrick Rose contributed 18 points, 2 assists, and 3 turnovers.

The game marked the end of one of the greatest playoff series ever and by far the best 1st round series ever, which had a record-setting seven overtimes in the first six games.

There always has to be a loser in sports and although the Bulls will go home labeled the losers, they certainly went out with class and heart. The Bulls should be proud of their performance against the defending champions as they often pushed them to the limit and in some instances far beyond it. The four overtime games was a record for a series, and the seven overtimes total were the most any teams have ever played in an entire playoff!!

Bulls rookie point guard Derrick Rose, failed to follow up on his Game 1 playoff debut in which he scored 36 points with 11 rebounds. The NBA rookie of the year averaged just 12.7 points and 4.2 assists in the four Chicago losses. However he displayed a maturity beyond his years and was the difference maker for the Bulls.

Chicago led by as many as nine points, 32-23, after Gordon scored the first five points of the second quarter -- giving him 17 at that point. The Bulls took a 36-30 lead with 8:01 left in the half before Boston scored the next 11 points and 20 of the next 22 to go into the break with a 14-point lead.

Peace and Much Love To Ya :)
