NBA All-Star Weekend

Although the Olympic ceremonies start on Friday in our beautiful city of Vancouver to kick off the 3 week winter sports fest (yea we waited 7 years for those 3 weeks); Dallas is the place to be for hoops fans this coming weekend. So instead of watching the opening ceremonies of the Olympics, I'll be watching the T-Mobile Rookie-Sophomore challenge that kicks off NBA All-Star weekend the same day. Don't get me wrong I'll still be reppin' my city to the fullest (V-City stand up!!) but I'll just have to TiVo the opening ceremonies and watch them at a later time. The Olympics are great but I love basketball and since it's February and love is in the air I have to go with All-Star weekend as my primary focus, so I will blog all 3 days of the event as best I can and then after the All-Star festivities I'll blog about the Olympics. So here's a look at what's to come this weekend:

Friday:

4 p.m. NBA All-Star Celebrity Game presented by Final Fantasy XIII

Notable Celebrities: Chris Tucker, Anthony Anderson, Common, Joel Moore, Pitbull, Mario Lopez.
Prediction: should be a fun game though they are always low scoring.

6 p.m. 16th Annual T-Mobile Rookie Challenge and Youth Jam (also first ever slam Dunk-In) Notable Players: Tyreke Evans, Brandon Jennings, Michael Beasley, Russel Westbrook, O.J. Mayo.
Prediction: always high scoring as no one plays defense; Sophomores should continue their dominance over the Rooks; DeMar DeRozan beats Eric Gordon in the Dunk-In to be the 4th contestant in the dunk contest.

Saturday:

4 p.m. 2nd Annual H.O.R.S.E. presented by Geico

Who's in it: Kevin Durant (OKC); Omri Casspi (SAC); Rajon Rondo (BOS).

Prediction: Durant, the inaugural winner last year, will take it again I believe.

5 p.m. 26th Annual NBA All-Star Saturday Night

Events: Haier Shooting Stars; Taco Bell Skills Challenge; Foot Locker 3-point Shootout; Sprite Slam Dunk
Predictions: Team Texas should win the Shooting Stars; Deron Williams will dethrone Derrick Rose in the Skills Challenge; Stephen Curry for the 3-point shootout; and DeRozan for the slam dunk if he makes it in, if not, then Shannon Brown.

Sunday:

5 p.m. 59th Annual NBA All-Star Game
Notable Players: Everybody!!! (I will post the rosters a day prior to the game)

Prediction: what better way to spend Valentine's night, the game will be epic as it will the biggest ever and might reach six figures in attendance if allowed by the NBA and state of Texas; The west might have the best teams but the East arguably has the best individual players therefore I pick the East to win.
